Dr. Maak cares deeply about her community, and has volunteered with the Utah Aids Foundation, Cleveland’s Free Clinic and Thousand Smiles during their Cleft Lip and Palate Surgical Expedition to Mexico.
In her free time, Dr. Maak enjoys fly fishing, hiking, skiing, swimming, painting, ceramics, boxing, cheering on the Utah Jazz, and spending time with her husband, who is an orthopaedic surgeon, three children, two cats, and German Shepherd. “Being a mom has made me a better doctor,” said Dr. Maak. “I am gentler and more empathetic towards parents and children as they undergo anesthesia and surgery for the first time.”
